Just steps from the Arena in Verona is a wonderful jewel of a suites hotel, the Escalus. The hotel is a boutique hotel with a very modern and sophisticated feel. The rooms are all suites with living rooms that can be outfit with cots if you are traveling as a family. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They speak English.
Breakfast (which comes with the room rate) in served in the suite and is among the best I’ve found in italy (breakfast is generally a disappointing meal in italy) at the Escalus the options include fresh fruit, eggs cooked anyway, and various pastries and jams. Hot chocolate and coffee as well (of course). I was traveling with my kids and they were very happy with the breakfast and also with their sleeping cots (they were comfortable which often times sleeping cots are not). The fresh orange juice was wonderful also!
The shower in our room was fantastic! lots of hot water, plenty of room–again unlike many Italian hotels.
Wifi was free but a bit spotty at times.
We were really pleased with our stay at the Escalus, I would highly recommend it.
